TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) Benefits

TCA is known for its ability to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, uneven tone, and sun damage. It works by exfoliating the upper layers of dead skin to reveal a brighter, more even complexion underneath. With consistent use, it can help smooth texture, fade pigmentation, and enhance the absorption of other skincare products. TCA may also improve the look of acne scars, blotchy skin, and surface damage caused by blemishes or prolonged sun exposure. This is considered a medium to deep peel, and users should expect some redness, flaking, swelling, or peeling that may last from one to two weeks following treatment.

Usage Guidelines

It is strongly advised to research whether TCA is appropriate for your individual skin type before beginning use. A patch test is required prior to full application. This peel must be diluted with distilled water to achieve a concentration that suits your skin’s tolerance. After using TCA, apply SPF 50+ daily and strictly avoid sun exposure for a minimum of four weeks. For health and safety reasons, we cannot accept returns on opened or used skincare products.

Who Should Use TCA

TCA is best suited for experienced users who have previously worked with chemical exfoliants. First-time users should begin with more gentle acids like glycolic or lactic acid before progressing to TCA. Once skin builds tolerance, a concentration between 5% and 15% is suitable for beginners. Strengths between 15% and 25% are intended for users familiar with peels and seeking deeper exfoliation. TCA is not recommended for individuals with darker skin tones, as it may result in hypopigmentation—patches of lighter skin. Users should never begin with a 20% or 25% solution unless they have previously tolerated 15% safely.

Sun Sensitivity Warning

Using exfoliants such as TCA can increase your skin’s sensitivity to sunlight. As recommended by the FDA, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher for at least one week following treatment. Avoid direct sunlight during this time.

Expected Reactions

It is normal to experience some redness, swelling, and peeling of the skin after a TCA peel. Flaking and skin shedding typically begin between the third and fifth day post-application. In some cases, temporary darkening of the skin may occur before peeling begins. This usually resolves on its own. Frosting of the skin may also occur as a normal part of the chemical reaction. Breakouts or blemishes may appear as impurities are purged from the skin. Increased sensitivity to other skincare products is common following a peel and should be managed with gentle, hydrating care.

Do Not Use If

You are currently taking Accutane or have taken it in the past twelve months. TCA peels are not recommended for individuals with darker skin tones due to the potential for pigment loss. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult your doctor before using this product. Do not use if you have a history of keloid scarring, are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation, or have active viral infections such as herpes or HIV/AIDS. Avoid use if you have not thoroughly researched the product or are unwilling to follow aftercare instructions. Chemical peels require a gradual, multi-treatment process and are not suitable for those seeking instant results. This peel should not be applied if you have recently used a hair removal system within the last 48 to 72 hours, or if your skin is sunburned, broken, inflamed, or recovering from recent surgery. Individuals with skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, melasma, or psoriasis should consult with a physician before applying any chemical acid to the skin.
